Our Verdict

Montane’s Womens Duality Gore-Tex Insulated Jacket uses a decent amount of top quality Primaloft Gold insulation which gives a decent level of warmth without overloading the jacket. It strikes a successful balance between weight, pack size and warmth, making it versatile for cooler and wetter conditions year-round, rather than being limited to just winter use. The 40D Gore-Tex outer provides an excellent level of protection and durability. It has coped with snow and heavy rain numerous times with ease. The use of insulation and a waterproof outer limit breathability but this jacket is designed for colder conditions rather than milder ones or for high intensity activities so this hasn’t been an issue so far.

In terms of features, the Duality has a really nice hood that is fully adjustable with a decent peak. The jacket has Velcro adjustable cuffs, an adjustable cinchable hem along with three good sized pockets. With the combination of warmth and waterproof protection this is a great all round jacket that is ideally suited to mountain walking and general, everyday use in cold and wet conditions.
