Our Verdict

Montane’s Sock-It Gaiters are aimed at runners of course, but they still appeal to summer backpackers who wear lightweight shoes which can be just as susceptible to getting grit inside, or they may just want a bit of added protection from wet grass and to keep trouser hems in check.

The fastening at the rear of the gaiter is a self adhesive hook-and-loop fastening that sticks to your shoes, these can be a weak point but also are easily replaced. It also means that strictly speaking these can only be fitted to one pair of shoes – but again, you can buy more hook-and-loop.

Super stretchy they come in two sizes, if you’re in the middle of the size range then either size will be suitable for you, take into account the bulkiness/heaviness of your shoes.
