Our Verdict

Montane’s Protium Sweater, combines comfort, performance and value really well. The use of Thermo Grid fleece means that this isn’t the lightest fleece out there but it is certainly versatile and durable so it’s worth the weight. The Thermo Grid allows heat to be regulated more effectively than normal, so excess heat can be released but in colder conditions warm air can be trapped in there to keep you warm. It is also really good at wicking moisture and dries pretty quickly too so it works really well for a range of outdoor activities. Its not as versatile as some of the other products in the Protium range, as it has no option to vent any heat, but for a more casual hike or around camp, this is a really nice comfortable top, that’s also great value.
