Montane says
With a brushed grid back construction, the THERMO GRID fleece manages moisture and regulates heat effectively, making the Protium Pull-On an excellent layering piece as well as being effective as an outer layer in warmer weather.
Our Verdict
Montane’s Protium Pull-On combines comfort, performance and value really well. The use of Thermo Grid fleece means that this isn’t the lightest fleece out there but it is certainly versatile and durable so it’s worth the weight. The Thermo Grid allows heat to be regulated more effectively than normal, so excess heat can be released but in colder conditions warm air can be trapped in there to keep you warm. It is also really good at wicking moisture and dries pretty quickly too so it works really well for a range of outdoor activities.
This pull-on version loses the hood and cuts weight which will appeal to many. There are offset seams make carrying a pack more comfortable so this top is designed for climbing, hiking and general outdoor wear. The fit of the top is slim in the right way, not too tight and certainly not restrictive when it comes to freedom of movement. This is a great all-rounder, balancing warmth, weight, performance and value really well.
