Our Verdict

If lightweight, warmth and weather protection is key then the Montane Mountain Squall Cap is the hat for you. It’s the lightest full mountain cap that we currently stock, providing full protection for the back of your neck and ears as well as your head and face.

The brushed microfleece lining feels incredibly soft and provides good insulation on those cold winter days. It has a pull cord adjustment at the back so you can get the best fit and comes with a removable chin strap to keep it in place.

What we really like about this hat is that there’s a headband just below the peak for extra comfort and protection. We also like that the hat is made from mated black fabric so you get no glare from the snow off the peak.
