Our Verdict

Montane’s Litespeed Jacket is a lightweight windshell that provides good levels of weather protection. This version sees the use of Pertex Quantum Eco which is a 100% recycled nylon outer with a DWR treatment that is capable of repelling a light shower. The low weight and pack size remain which is great for any fast and light enthusiasts.

The jacket has an elasticated hood with a wire stiffened peak, designed for under helmet use which means it’s much more usable for most day-to-day activities where helmets are not required. The hem is adjustable and there are two zippered hand pockets which are rare features on wind shells trying to minimise weight. Admittedly there are lighter wind jackets out there but these additional features do make is more practical.
