Montane says
Cutting edge Diamond Lite is a lightweight20 Denier nylon fabric with ‘liquid crystal’ yarns woven into the face, making it extremely resistant to abrasion and tearing. Combined with 350g (M) of high quality 850+ fill power goose down inside core body box walled chambers, the durability and the warmth to weight ratio of the Alpine 850 Down Jacket makes it perfect for high altitude mountaineering.
Our VerdictMontane’s Alpine 850 Down Jacket is a seriously warm jacket designed to keep you comfortable in the most extreme of environments. 350g of exceptionally high quality responsibly sourced down in a zoned box wall construction makes this impressively well insulated. Box wall construction is warmer than sewn through construction as there are no cold spots where the baffles are joined. All the zips have large toggles making easier to grab even with mitts on. There are two large handwarmer pockets with fleece lining for extra comfort. There are two internal mesh pockets which are great for storing spare hats and gloves or stopping your water bottle from freezing. We think it would be better if they were a bit bigger. The Diamond light outer is a new fabric to us, it’s designed to be especially resistant to abrasion and tears. It feels tough and an added bonus is the attractive lined effect. The wrist cuffs are elasticated giving a nice snug fit keeping the warmth in. 2 drawcords on the hem allow the waist to be easily cinched in. The helmet compatible hood is very protective and can easily be cinched to size or folded away if not needed. – Reviewed by Ultralight Outdoor Gear Features
